in my earlier post , i believe i have mentioned about this teacher who had accused me of things...
now , i'd like to tell all of you about the things she does in class...
you see , i had decided not to take this tamil language as an elective in my SPM exam...
however , my 'relatives' (i will elaborate about the air quotes in the upcoming posts)
had told me that i 'should' take this subject as an elective...
ok , so i took it and then i had to go to this teacher's classes...
so i did...
and during her classes she never actually teaches...
do you want to know what she does??? ~ i'm sure you do..
first , she comes to class kinda late but sometimes ~ miraculously she comes early...
as soon as she comes in, she places her books on the big teacher's table in front of the class and starts
wiping her beads of perspiration on her forehead and neck with her handkerchief...
yes people , her signature trademark is definitely the handkerchief!!
she never goes anywhere without it and often she attaches it to her garments...( i will not specify how)
once she's done with all the wiping and tucking her beloved hanky away...she clutches her text book under
her arms and makes and gets herself a plastic chair ~sometimes a students does it , and takes her seat
right under the not-so-old fan...
she crosses her legs and then uncrosses it and the class begins...
she will start by requesting us in a very 'polite' way to read out a text from the textbook...
what i mean by 'polite' here is that she
all she says is 'oi' , 'ei' and others similar to those...only her
her
once we're done with the reading , she would start to 'elaborate' on the passage...
what i'm trying to imply with the term 'elaborate' here is , she would just start saying something about
the text we're discussing about and then she would end up telling her 'stories'
the 'stories' are generally about the tamil cinema and other students whom she so dearly hates...
she would gossip about which actor and actresses are doing well in movies...and then she would
move on to talk about the other students whom she hate...
she would say that this girl has a boyfriend and i saw her dating here and there...she's like this and like that...
and things that are just bad,....its mere gossip in that 1 hour...
the benefit is never in her class...its always a waste of time that i get....
and if a student adjusts her hair in class...she would start saying that this girl is good for nothing and
other bad things...
sometimes , even some teachers fall prey into her gossips...
she talks bad about the teachers in my school that she hates ~ she's friends with these teachers
when it comes to exams , she never gets her exam papers ready on time...
whenever its her subject's test , the exam papers are always late and when they do arrive , the papers are in
awful condition ~ the papers are just photocopied from the original hand-written paper
none of us can make the words from her papers...we merely assume the question and give vague answers
when the test results are finally announced , i of course will get a D...she had never given me an A in her
paper...except one time in 2009 where she gave me a B...
she claims that my essays are poorly written and i do not have good grammatical grasp...
however , when i analysed my paper by comparing it with her favourite , i found out that her favourite
had actually done worse than me but had gotten an A instead...the marks were awarded blindly to
her favourite....
because of one D , i who was supposed to be in the top of my class fell to the botttom...
all of my exam slips were so imperfect...all A's and only one D....
and when my mother came to confront her dearest friend about this ,
this teacher had merely said that ;i quote
"tuition teacher's will give good marks because you pay them money"
my mom was furious...
she claimed that i only got good marks in tuition classes because i paid them their fee each month
whereas the school teacher grades my paper 'fairly'
i ignored this comment and studied hard...
and when SPM result was finally announced , i got an A for the subject that this teacher so 'fairly' graded
i who consistently got D at last got an A...however , her favourites who always got an A , in the end got
the D that they truly deserve..
so , tell me...who's the one who's unfair??
